Psalm 90:12
Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; and help us to spend them as we should.
As we begin a new day, we accept the finality of our yesterdays. They are past. Paulw rote, "Forgetting the past" (Phil 3:13 LB) We face the uncertainty of tomorrows. "For the length of your lives is as uncertain as the morning fog - now you see it; soon it is gone (James 4:14, LB).
But we have the reality of our present moment, our today. How will we use it? We can spend it on ourselves on some cherished plan or desire of our own. Or we can present it to our heavenly Father to use in a way that will bring joy in His heart and glory to His name.
With the privilege of using God's today, why waste time brooding or longing over the past? It is gone. Why be fearful of tomorrow? It may never come.
Today, now, this present moment, is a special gift from God. As we listen to His still small voice, He will reveal how we are to spend it.
The psalmist said, "TEACH us to number our days." David wrote, "Lord, help me to realize how brief my time on earth will be. Help me to know that I am here for but a moment more. My life is no longer than my hand! My whole lifetime is but a moment to you. Proud man! Frail as breath! A shadow! And all his busy rushing ends in nothing. He heaps up riches for someone else to spend. And so, Lord, my only hope is in you" (Ps. 39:4-7)

My thoughts:
* The words 'Live today like it's your last' sounds so overused but rings true. Instead of dwelling on past hurts and negativity, strive to live a day full of optimism, praise, and love. Be thankful for another day of freedom to live the life we choose, that in so doing, we aim to be more closer and intimate with God - and the rest is up to Him.
